LAMEZIA TERME – La società Basketball Lamezia è lieta di comunicare che fino alla fine della stagione potrà avvalersi delle prestazioni di Domenico Antonicelli.
Una delle due sorprese scese in campo nella vittoriosa sfida contro la Vis è proprio lui, il play classe ’97 Domenico Antonicelli. Un ritorno a casa per il giovane lametino dopo l’esperienza ad inizio stagione a Chieti (serie A2) e poi alla Viola.
Domenico muove i suoi primi passi nella vecchia Fortitudo Lamezia, mettendosi in evidenza nel campionato u18 già all’età di 15 anni. Poi il trasferimento alla Scuola basket Viola e due anni di crescita alla corte di Pasquale Iracà. Il 2014 è l’anno della consacrazione con l’esperienza in serie B e DNG con Francavilla Fontana.
Lo scorso anno il rientro alla casa madre per dare vigore e spessore al progetto Basketball Lamezia con la conquista della semifinale playoff in serie C e del titolo regionale under 20.
Sul finire di stagione un brutto infortunio lo ha tenuto lontano dai campi di gioco per qualche mese, ma grazie al lavoro svolto in palestra con Alessandro Mascaro sta tornando piano piano ai livelli che gli competono. Abbiamo scambiato qualche battuta con il neo acquisto.
E’ praticamente un ritorno a casa, che effetto fa rientrare allo Sparti?
E’ vero qui sono a casa. Domenica pronti via subito grandi emozioni e grande pubblico. Mi ricordavo il palazzetto pieno ma contro la Vis il calore si è avvertito davvero tanto. Sono felice di ritrovare i miei vecchi compagni di squadra e una parte dello staff che mi accompagna da tantissimi anni.
Un campionato diverso rispetto allo scorso anno. Lamezia è tra le protagoniste e lotterà fino alla fine per il titolo?
Lo scorso anno eravamo una squadra molto giocane. Alternavamo prestazioni buone a cali di concentrazione pazzeschi. E’ dato poco che lavoro con i nuovi compagni ma vedo una differenza sostanziale. Qui si fa sul serio, ci sono giocatori di ottimo livello e penso di poter trarre profitto allenandomi con loro. Noi lotteremo fino alla fine per vincere questo campionato e portare in alto in nome della nostra città.
Dal punto di vista personale quali obiettivi ti poni?
Al momento penso a lavorare costantemente giorno per giorno. Devo ringraziare Ale (Alessandro Mascaro preparatore del Basketball Lamezia) che in questi mesi mi ha aiutato tanto e motivato a fare sempre meglio. Voglio rientrare in forma e giocare le mie carte mettendomi a servizio della squadra. Il mio obiettivo è migliorare sempre di più il mio livello di gioco per confrontarmi ogni giorno con giocatori più forti.
